| Library fundraiser set for Monday
PITTSBORO - The Friends of the Pittsboro Memorial Library, www.pittsborolibraryfriends.org, will hold a burrito bash fundraiser from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at The Pittsboro General Store Cafe.Proceeds will benefit the Children's Room in the planned Chatham County headquarters library.Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at The Pittsboro General Store Cafe, Central Carolina Community College front office, Edwards Antiques, Chatham Arts, Beggars and Choosers and French Connections in Pittsboro and at the door. .
Annual Farm Toy Show set in Urbandale
The fifth annual Living History Farms Farm Toy Show will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 3 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 4 at the visitor center, 11121 Hickman Road. The show will include a variety of farm toy collectibles, belt buckles, trading cards, Breyer horses and John Deere and Farmall merchandise. Representatives from the national Farm Toy Museum will also be on hand with a display of farm toys. Admission is $3 per person. Stolen trailer carried a fortune in antiques
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Andrew Vogel was at the verge of tears Wednesday when he spoke of his stolen trailer carrying 4,000 English antiques worth $1 million. Vogel, 43, and his wife, Kelly, were staying at a tucked-away Hampton Inn Hotel, west of West Palm Beach, Fla.. They were headed back to Chicago after driving to Palm Beach County for the Winter Antique Show at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in West Palm Beach over the weekend. When Andrew Vogel looked out his hotel window about 9 a.m. Tuesday, his heart dropped, he said. His 16-foot-long, 9-foot-tall dark blue Avenger trailer with Illinois plates was gone. He had to disconnect it from his car because of parking but there was a lock on it, he said. "It's our livelihood," he said Wednesday. "We have our heart and soul in these pieces.

Fire destroyed a shed belonging to Joe and Dixie Murray, rural Wadena, Monday noon. Joe Murray told the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Department he parked his Bobcat skid steer in the shed and plugged in its block heater. “I wasn't gone more than five minutes when I was on my way home and noticed the Wadena Fire Department behind me," Murray told the department. The shed contained a lawnmower, two skid steers, swather and antique seed drill. Murray estimated the damage at $25,000. Cause of the fire is yet undetermined, but it is believed to be electrical, the sheriff's department said. .

The Center serves as an educational facility that provides a wide array of nature programs, both to guests and to local schools.
