Lincoln City celebrates all things red this weekend

"Paint the Town Red," a family-oriented celebration of all things red, will be the kickoff event Saturday for Lincoln City's 17th annual Antique Week.

"It could be raining sideways or freezing cold, but there's still going to be something to do with the kids, from 8 in the morning until 10 at night, to keep them from driving you nuts," said coordinator Barton Howe.

Antique Week actually begins Friday and runs through Feb. 19.

"This will be a family event, with everything geared to attracting families," said Howe, who works at the Lincoln City Visitor and Convention Bureau.

"Paint the Town Red" will be loaded with games and stories that bring attention to all things red.

Howe coaxed a friend into donning an outlandish red costume for promotional photos.

"If I tell who it is, I'll be killed because it took a long time to find somebody who'd get in that suit," Howe said.
