What are the odds a male and female virgin would both turn 21 on Valentine's Day, and would both write to Doctor Date? OK, normally I would just suggest people take out a "Hey You" personal ad in the Daily, but since these circumstances are so rare and exceptional, I'm going to suggest both of you put on birthday hats and hang out at Stub & Herb's the evening of Feb. 14. Why Stub & Herb's, you might wonder? Why not the Kitty Kat Club or many other fine local establishments? Well, I looked up their phone number on the Internet, and immediately chanced upon a description of Stub & Herbs as "the unofficial heart of the campus." Yes, I might have lost my little friend, Magic Coin, who came in so handy sometimes, when dispensing advice in those "six of one, half a dozen of the other" situations.
Ascension Parish set to observe bicentennial with elaborate birthday bash
Ascension Parish plans to celebrate its bicentennial with a birthday party unlike any ever seen in this area.That was the message conveyed Jan. 23 at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center when members of the parish's Bicentennial Committee unveiled plans for the elaborate celebration, set for April 20-22 at the multi-purpose facility."We just want to put on one big show for all of Ascension Parish," said Nancy Carter, a member of the Bicentennial Committee and co-producer of the event. .
FanFest details
The new version of the Orioles' FanFest will be held on Sunday, April 1, from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the team's open workout at Camden Yards before it's season-opener the following night in Minnesota. Everyone in attendance can watch batting practice, pitchers throwing in the bullpen, etc. during the workout portion that will run until 1 p.m. Player interviews will be broadcast on the field and piped through the public-address system, so lean in close or you'll miss most of it. (OK, that's my last dig at the PA system at Camden Yards. I promise) After the workout, players will be stationed around the warning track to sign autographs for fans who will line up in the seating area. You won't have to worry about no-shows. Everyone will be there.

As with any vacation, even though this is a one-tank trip, set a limit on what you want to spend. Antique and craft shoppers, this means you. Credit cards accepted. Please, dont go speeding over a hill, or around a curve. With destinations all connected by twisting roads, youre not only risking your life, but those of the Amish. You read about one of these car vs. buggy tragedies every year. Dont cause one. Assume there is a pedestrian or buggy over the next hill. The buggies now have a flashing light on them (at night), but that wont alert speeders in time. And dont think that because its winter, people wont be riding bicycles. Amish men, women and children pedal along with cars zooming past at 60 mph around hairpin turns. And some of the bikes tow children in a cart.
